Nickelodeon Latin America and its new productions

Without a doubt Nickelodeon Latin America its investing well in its productions, as soon as a teen soap finishes, it has another one on the way.

All started with Skimo, La maga y el camino dorado,Isa TKM, followed by its 2nd season with the name Isa TK+, then by Suena Conmigo and now Grachi.

Nickelodeon Latin America seems to be very committed in using local talents as well to forming partnerships with the main broadcasters/production companies of the countries its soaps are being recorded, forming joined productions.

For example Isa TKM was produced by Nickelodeon Latin America and Sony Pictures
Television, and Suena Conmigo by Nickelodeon Latin America, Illusion Studios and Televisa, as it was made in Argentina with some Mexican actors, as its main actress, Eiza Gonzalez.

Suena Conmigo just finished in Mexico, this past Friday, and for almost a month in the other countries Nickelodeon Latin America was showing, as for in Brazil (7pm) it still quite in the beginning. It had a very sweet ending in my opinion, with Clara fulfilling all of her dreams.

Now its time for Grachi that premieres this Monday, 2nd May. (MEX-COL-ARG - 7pm , VEN 7:30pm and CHI 6pm.

And as every Nick production it is packed with music and a very talented young cast. It is worth to check it out!!!

Chuck

As every Chuck fan I am anxious about 2 things. First to finally read that Chuck is renewed for a 5th season, secondly to know whats gonna be Volkoff end game.

By the promo NBC showed this week for the next epi its quite promising and with have the return of Linda Hamilton and Timothy Dalton reprising their roles as Mama B and Volkoff.

I like stand alone episodes, cause usually they give the show more space for its lighter side, but every time we get back to the season arch the stakes are much higher and gives more opportunity for the characters to shine, and come on its Chuck so they always find a way to light it up, even when things in the episode are pretty tense.

The way things were left in the last episode, they are building up for a pretty interesting season finale, with Ellie finally getting into the family business through her fathers work, Devon having to lie to protect Ellie when he is not sure he is doing the right thing, and Chuck completely clueless of what is actually going on with them, on top of all let's not forget the wedding, that they dropped a bit the theme and its gonna be brought back soon enough, and Volkoff , Mama B and Vivian plot.

Im of the opinion that if we get a season 5, I would rather see the wedding there, but as the writers are writing in unsure waters its more likely we see Chuck & Sarah tying the knot this season, and as is Chuck Im prepared to be surprised.

Check out the promo for Monday April 11th, all new Chuck , 8/7 c on NBC.

Fairly Legal

Its the time when most series are in hiatus usually I chose a new series to start watching. This time was Fairly Legal, I had seen the promos for it during White Collar brakes and someone had recommended on twitter, so thought why not? It seemed light and with an interesting theme.

An ex lawyer who decided to become a mediator ( alternative dispute resolution), who enters in questions that can be solved between only the involved ones in the matter without the need of a judge, as Kate (Sarah Shahi) often says its win, win. Which is better than someone lose and the other win as always happens when the case goes to court .

The plot its easy to follow, and the characters are quite likable. Kate is the mediator, who is quite mature to solve others problems but when it comes to her relationship with her stepmother and ex-husband she is quite the opposite.

Leo is her loyal assistant that helps her dig the backstory behind her cases as to avoid her stepmother.

Spencer is her brothers who rather behaves as the wife of his family.

Lauren is her stepmother and also the manager of her fathers company, Reed & Reed, who tries to reach to Kate and become her father business like.

Justin, who is a DA and Kate's ex-husband , is constantly trying to fix things with her, and ends up always helping her with her cases even when she puts the cases in 1st place instead of him.

And what is really funny are her ringtones, that are all Wizard of Oz related, and shows how she sees each of the persons in her life ; Father, Wizard - Lauren,Wicked Witch - Spencer, Scarecrow - Leo, Lion - Justin, Tin Man.

The first season finished with an interesting cliffhanger, basically Kate losing everything, Justin , her job... so now its hope that Fairly Legal gets renewed for a second season and we get to see if Kate becomes as mature in her own life as she is with her cases.

The King's Speech not all that...

It took me flying to Brazil, to actually watch The King's Speech, yes they were showing on the plane, yes thats why I watched, cos otherwise I don't think I would have watched, the film just doesn't call my attention, neither the poster, trailer nor premise.

Don't get me wrong, the film is good, the actors are definitely doing something different form what I had seen them doing previously, but still didn't convince me that it was worth the Oscar for best film.

The entire film is pretty plain and steady, off course its a victory when the King is able to read the speech without major staggering *, and it truly shows the meaning of confidentiality( his coach didn't tell his wife till he had to that he was coaching the King to be) and perseverance, sure all of that are good lessons, but not done in a super hyper enthusiastic mode, which I understand cos it's a British film, and I don't say that as a bad criticism its just that British cinema is more contained, emotions seem to be brought always down, at least its how I sense it.

Some aesthetics of the film framing bothered me, but that is something that probably I was one of the few that actually noticed that part of the film.

But after watching it, I am quite disappointed that "Black Swan" didn't win, it was in my opinion the best , and the only one of the nominees that I watched and left the cinema saying " WOW that was a good movie" , in not just one aspects but many, and that doesn't mean the other nominees weren't good, just means they didn't have the "WOW" and "Marvelled" effect Black Swan had in me,anyway Im just happy that "The Social Network" didn't win , cos then I wouldn't no what to say of the Academy, just that their standers decreased quite a bit over the years.
